Susan
is the Music Minister at CIC. Her involvement with leading music in
church
began in 8th grade
when she
was asked to follow her older sister as the organist for St. John’s
Lutheran church in rural Westby, Montana. For the next four years she
honed her skills on good ol’ Lutheran hymns until leaving home
to pursue a music degree at Montana State University in Bozeman. Susan
began serving the congregation of Community in Christ as a music volunteer
in 1992, and joined the staff ten years later in 2002.
Susan
is also a music teacher, having taught at schools in Montana and for
the Department of Defense Dependents Schools at Ramstein
AFB in Germany. During her
8-year stay in Germany she met and married Tom, opened a private music studio,
began raising and showing Bernese Mountain Dogs and had a baby, daughter Sara.
While in Germany Susan also continued her study of classical voice and was
active with several choirs and theaters as well as serving as
the assistant conductor
for the Rheinland Pfaltz International Choir. Her favorite theatrical role
was singing “the mother” in 3 different productions of Menotti’s “Amahl
and the Night Visitors.”
